Job Description

Overview:

A Restoration Technician is able to respond quickly to complete all phases of a mitigation job from the initial job evaluation and documentation to completion of demolition and drying, through to wrap up and clean up. Due to the nature of the work, job sites can be dirty, cold, wet, unsanitary or any combination thereof. Often this work requires access to tight spaces including attics and crawlspaces. The work is often very challenging, but also fun and rewarding. A good attitude, professionalism and a desire to help people are keys for success in this job.1

Duties:

The Restoration Technician’s role is to perform restoration work as assigned by the Operations Department which may include, but is not limited to, the following duties:

Water Damage Duties:

  • Water extraction and removal of water damaged materials.
  • Follow written procedures for emergency services.
  • Move affected contents/ furniture
  • Set up and monitor drying equipment and containment barriers.
  • Application of antimicrobial products.
  • Keep the job sites clean and professional.

Mold Mitigation Duties:

  • Treat and scrub all visible mold as necessary and paint over treated area with an anti-microbial primer/sealer
  • Complete repairs on roofs, in attics, and in crawlspace to prevent future mold growth
    • Installing vents, vapor barrier, baffles, insulation, bath fan ducting, HVAC ducting, etc.
  • Extensive cleaning of interior of homes that have been affected by mold including
    • HEPA vacuuming, wiping of walls and surface areas with anti-microbial enzyme
    • Fogging enzyme throughout space
    • Pre- and post-mitigation testing to ensure completion of work

General Duties:

  • Being available for routine on call rotational emergency services and after-hours work.
  • To participate in demolition, remediation, cleaning, packing, moving and being responsible for maintaining a clean and safe job site.
  • Updating the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager on any changes in details of projects.
  • Customer Service
  • Following written production procedures.
  • Daily completion and tracking of job paperwork, timecards, checkout forms, vehicle records and other necessary paperwork.
  • Maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Vehicle general maintenance and cleaning.
  • Facility janitorial work as requested.
  • Responsible for providing constructive feedback as to how the company can:
    • Provide better service
    • Improve efficiency
    • Improve the quality of the finished product.
  • Assistance with Contents and Cleaning services as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager

Qualifications

 Education, knowledge and experience required:

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Experience in restoration and/or construction preferred but not necessary.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment, with established team building abilities
  • Ability to work safely in a construction environment
  • Results-oriented individual with the ability to interpret and effectively manage multiple and competing priorities and time lines
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and related building codes
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Insurance, Commercial Experience or IICRC Certifications are considered an asset
  • Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be capable of doing at least 5 pull ups, 20 push-ups and 30 sit ups.
  • Comfortable in confined spaces
  • Comfortable working at heights / ladder work
  • Must lift heavy items up to 75lbs on a routine basis.
  • The workspace may be contaminated with heavy smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water or other unsanitary conditions. Protective gear is available for use and is required on some heavily contaminated work sites. Must be capable of wearing a full face respirator and protective full body Tyvek suit for several hours.

 Position requirements:

  • Wear of professional, trade appropriate, footwear and clothing.
  • Must be inoculated against Tetanus and Hepatitis A & B, and COVID 19
  • To attend and actively participate in on-going training and certification as needed and to make every effort to attempt to pass any exams that may be required.

Must pass background check (no felonies), and good driving record with current driver’s license.

COMPENSATION

•            $17 - $23 Per Hour DOE

•            Annual equivalent pay up to 65K/yr with profit share incentives and benefits.

•            Paid Vacation / Holidays (10 days/yr)
