Mountain Air Restoration Now Offers Defensible Space & Home Hardening Inspections

Protecting your home from the inside and the outside

Mountain Air Restoration has always focused on safeguarding the health, safety, and integrity of your home. Now, we’re expanding that mission.

We’re excited to announce that we are officially offering Defensible Space and Home Hardening Inspections, using the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) guidelines to help homeowners identify wildfire?related vulnerabilities around their property.

These inspections can be added to your Comprehensive Home Health Check (CHHC) for a complete, whole?home evaluation—inside, outside, and everything in between.

Why Defensible Space & Home Hardening Matter

Wildfire risk is a growing concern across Central Oregon. Even well?maintained homes can have hidden vulnerabilities—dry vegetation, aging fencing, combustible materials near the structure, or construction features that make embers more likely to enter the home.

A defensible space and home?hardening inspection helps you:

  • Reduce wildfire risk around your home
  • Identify vegetation, structural, and material hazards
  • Understand how embers could impact your property
  • Prioritize upgrades that improve safety and resilience
  • Potentially qualify for insurance discounts once improvements are completed

This is proactive protection—not just for your home, but for your peace of mind.

What’s Included in the Inspection?

Using ODF defensible space and home?hardening standards, we evaluate:

  • Vegetation zones around the home
  • Tree spacing, ladder fuels, and overhanging limbs
  • Combustible materials near the structure
  • Roof, gutters, vents, and siding vulnerabilities
  • Decks, fences, and outbuildings
  • Driveway access and emergency access considerations

You’ll receive a detailed photo report documenting all findings, along with clear, homeowner?friendly recommendations.

Key Home Hardening Improvements We May Recommend

As part of your report, we may suggest targeted upgrades such as:

  • 1/8” ember?resistant mesh screening for eave and foundation vents
    • We use Firestorm Mesh by New Cal Metals, a high?performance metal screening designed to block ember intrusion while maintaining proper ventilation.
  • Metal?based gutter covers
    • These prevent debris buildup in gutters, reducing ignition risk and improving water flow during storms.
  • Non?combustible zone creation around the home
  • Upgrades to vents, siding, or roofing materials where needed

And because Mountain Air Restoration is built on transparency and service, we also provide:

  • Estimates to complete the recommended upgrades
  • Referrals or subcontracting for larger projects, such as tree removal or landscape improvements

We handle the coordination so you don’t have to.

Add It to Your CHHC for a Complete Home Evaluation

Your CHHC already covers:

  • Interior moisture and ventilation
  • Attic and crawlspace conditions
  • Exterior drainage and building envelope
  • Thermal imaging (when needed)
  • Mold and moisture risk assessment

By adding a defensible space and home?hardening inspection, you get a 360 degree view of your home’s health, from the crawlspace to the roofline to the property line.

It’s the most comprehensive, proactive home evaluation available in Central Oregon.

We Make Improvements Easy

Some upgrades are simple—clearing debris, adjusting landscaping, or sealing vents. Others require specialized equipment or licensed professionals.

For larger projects, Mountain Air Restoration will subcontract trusted partners for:

  • Tree removal
  • Brush clearing
  • Landscape modifications
  • Structural hardening upgrades

You get one point of contact, one report, and one team coordinating everything.

Protect Your Home. Strengthen Your Safety. Increase Your Resilience.

Whether you’re preparing for wildfire season, looking to improve your home’s long?term safety, or hoping to qualify for insurance incentives, this inspection gives you the clarity and direction you need.

If you’d like this added to your next CHHC—or want to schedule a standalone defensible space inspection—Mountain Air Restoration is ready to help.
